VoTV team meets US Health Secy Kathleen Sebelius
VoTV members got an opportunity to interact with Kathleen Sebelius, Secretary of Health and Human Services on 16th January, 2012. She was heading a entourage consisting of Director, Global Health/CDC; Associate Director of International Research/NIH; Consul General, Health attache and several other dignitaries. Four VoTV members presented their views to the visiting team with their typical passion.
The team was positively impressed by the novelty and power of VoTV campaign. Ms Kathleen informed that CDC is planning to embark on a similar kind of campaign in USA. She also shared that WHO is contemplating similar campaigns in several other countries. She said that tobacco is undoubtedly the most important public health issue in the current society and US government is committed to tobacco control. She personally interacted with all the survivors and wished them good luck. At the end survivors presented a souvenir to Ms Kathleen that potrays Mr Obama as an anti-tobacco man. She promised that she will personally deliver it to Mr. President. She expressed desire to be photographed with the cancer survivors so that she can inform Mr. President about this meeting with their picture.
